After the major pacific demonstration which took place in Kuala Lumpur in March 2009 - see our article "Malaysia: Protests against English as a medium of teaching" - the Malaysian Government rectifies its policy.

Malaysian schools will no longer have to teach Science and Mathematics in English as many Malay teachers considered that teaching English in a scientific context was not the best way to improve the English level in state schools.
